WHY DO I DO WHAT I DON'T WANT TO DO?

Frank Ottati

Text: Romans 7:15-18
The Problem: "The sin that is inside of me, that is stronger that I am makes me do these evil things" Rom 7:17 How can we be free from the slavery of sin? How can we change?

The Promise: Jesus said: "When you know the truth, The truth will set you free" John 8:32 What is truth? Jesus said: "I am the truth." John 14:6 Knowing the truth, Jesus in our minds, will change the way we feel and the way we act. If we want to change, we have to face the truth about Ourselves about Jesus and a about the problems we have. How do we do that?

The Prescription:
Facing the truth about ourselves
ADMIT our roots: we are born with sIn Rom. 7:17 , being the I in the middle: egocentric "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" 1 John 1:8 (NIV) Facing he truth about Jesus BELIEVE that Jesus can change us, Rom. 7:24,25 "Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord." (NLT)

Facing the truth about our problems
"CONFESS your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you" James 5:16 (New Century Version)

DEDICATE: ".Give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life (Rom 6:12,13 NLT)

God keeps His promise. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist; at the time you are tempted He will give you strength to endure it and so provide you with a way out." 1 Cor 10:13 (Good News)

Parable: The Wolf and the Sheep
