Community Outreach is a church ministry to serve those in need both in our church as well as the community of this area. Our ministry has also specialized in helping homeless men and women; and that is why we are also known as “the homeless ministry.”
The purpose of this ministry is to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of those who come for help in challenging times.
To our homeless friends, we provide a light breakfast every Wednesday. They are able to pick out used clothing items such as jeans, T-shirts, socks, tennis shoes, underwear and toiletries and proceed to take a shower. At noon we provide a warm, cooked lunch and before they leave, we give them a snack bag to take with them. During the winter months we provide them with sleeping bags, jackets, gloves, as we have available.
During Thanksgiving and Christmas, we also provide them with a special holiday meal. In addition to the Christmas meal, we have a special Christmas project where the members of our church sponsor one of our homeless friends and buy them new articles of clothing, such as new jeans, new jacket, gloves etc.
To our members, we also provide some grocery items at the church every week.
We welcome anyone wanting to volunteer or wishing to donate new or gently used items. If interested in volunteering, please contact us. If you’d like to donate a small amount of items there are bins outside of the sanctuary. For larger donations please contact us.
We can always use volunteers every week on Wednesdays from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm to help us set up tables and put out the clothing items. We can also use help in the kitchen in preparing meals and helping out with table set up and clean up.
We are always in need of new or gently used clothing: men’s blue jeans, tennis shoes, t-shirts, socks, underwear, and belts. Other items that are in short supply are backpacks. We are always use snacks products like juice, tuna, granola bars, cookies, fruit in cup.
